Longline Bra or Corset that minimizes armpit bulge?

I haven't picked out my dress yet but most of the ones that I've narrowed it down to are strapless.  I'm worried about getting a strapless because of the potential armpit bulge problem at the top.  I'm small/average sized--size 6/8--and have a smaller bust (36B) but this still seems to occur.  I've been professionally fit for bras so I know I'm wearing the right size.  I've been focusing on toning my arms/chest area but I'm not sure how much it's helping with this problem.

Does anyone know an affordable longline bra or corset that will minimize this problem?

  • I have this problem sometimes, too -- I'm also a size 6/8, but I wear a 34D.  Last summer I found a great corset at Frederick's (for under my bridesmaid dress at my sister's wedding), that I've worn a few times since, and it does wonders!  I think the secret is making sure there's more support than just relying on the cups or a band around your back to do all the work.  Something with boning, where the bulk of gravity is resting on your ribcage/waist will help minimize the bulk spilling over the top of the bra.

    Here's a link to the corset I have: http://www.fredericks.com/Lace_Inset_Corset_Set/51405,default,pd.html?cgid=co1

  • Thanks, I'll try to check it out.

  • I'd say the bra is the wrong size/cut.  I know you were professionally measured, but everything I've seen is that that is caused by a bad fit... maybe try on some different styles or try another place... also try different sizes near the one they told you -- I always measure one thing and then when they put me in it they look at it and can't figure out why it's a mess...

I also agree with PP about the boning....

    Hope that helps...
