Does Anyone Else Get On/Off Buyers Remorse?

Arg!! Bought my dress in June and now I'm getting these on and off dress regrets. I try and remember how pretty I felt in the dress when I tried it on. Its Alfred Angelo's Belle. Now I'm so worried that my FI might not like it. Maybe that tulle flowy thing is weird... I liked it at the time. Hummmmm. Do you think my dress is weird? And does anyone else feel this way sometimes?

  • Everyone goes through this phase, its a huge purchase!

I still have dress on/off feelings and I've been married 2 years. You chose your dress for reason, and it looks beautiful on you. You FI will only see his beautiful bride walking towards him, believe me, you could be wearing a burlap sack.

Move onto to another part of the wedding, shoes, jewelry, table linens, anything to focus on something else. When it comes in and you put it on, you'll remember why you bought it. Promise!

  • Dress shopping has been by far my least favorite part of wedding planning! I have HORRIBLE buyers remorse, even for petty little things like tank tops and bowl. lol.

I try my best not to think about my dress and stay focused on other things. I know our fiances will think we are amazing either way.

I also keep telling myself, "It's not about the dress...what readlly matters is each other and the fact that we are promising the rest of our lives to each other!"

i did with the same dress actually. i decided not to go with it, its an amazing dress but i ended up going with less dress. but i will say i said the same thing about the flowy tulle but when trying it on again it makes the dress!. but your fiancee will love any dress on you im sure. i love the dress and that picture of it is gorgeous on you and ur figure. even the arm strapps look good on it !.

dont worry to much or second guess it
  • Oh my gosh you look SOOOOO beautiful in that dress!! It stotally normal to have buyers remore--just try to remember how you initially felt in the dress and how you will likely feel on your wedding day :)

    You're going to look fabulous!

  • I have had buyer's remorse since the day I bought my dress.  So, yes, it's totally normal.  My wedding is in 36 days, my dress is already being altered, and I still cruise recycledbride looking for something I might like better.
  • I had buyers remorse for about the first 3 months.  I ended up buying the first dress I tried, on the first day of shopping.  Now I couldn't be happier and can't wait to get into it for my fitting.  Your dressing is  beautiful.  I'm sure your FI won't evennotice the part you now think is weird, and your seamstress could probably take it off if you decide you really don't like it.

  • You look gorgeous in your dress. Like everyone said, it's completely normal to feel this way. However, to neutralize any doubt, ask yourself, what kind of dress would you wear if it wasn't this one?  Sometimes doing this makes you realize this is your dress.  If you realize it isn't the one, you don't have to feel guilty, it happens to a lot of brides.  Basically move forward and find the one you love. :)
  • Oh my, I have had it too.  It's just as you described it, "on and off."  I have my dress now but it hasn't been altered at all, and I feel like that is the reason I'm so worried.  When I try it on now, it is ill-fitting and just.... not what I had pictured it would look like on my body.  I just keep reminding myself that it needs alteration, and then it will be fabulous.

WORDS OF ADVICE:  Don't cheat on your dress!  Don't go looking at other dresses because then you'll freak yourself out more.  Try to stay confident in your choice!  It's a great dress!

  • I am feeling the same way about my dress right now! and for a couple months now...

I got my dress last summer, so it was over a year ago and even though I think my dress is very pretty-it's not what I would have picked if I had waited til now to get one. ( or atleast I dont think I would)  after having a meltdown at Davids Bridal, my mom was okay with the idea of me buying a second dress, although I still refuse to spend more money on attire.  Just to see if I did like anything else that is within a reasonable price range, I went looking online at local stores. i looked at every dress at both Davids Bridal and Alfred Angelo, and although there are several I thought were pretty, there was not a SINGLE ONE that I would want to buy-even if budget wasn't an issue.

SO, I'm trying to convince myself that i'm just being irrational about the whole dress issue.  I just hope that on the big day I will like my dress enough to feel beautiful in it.

  • Like PP have said, this is completely normal.  I have buyer's remorse since the day I bought my dress up until my first fitting.  When I got back into the dress, I remembered why I purchased it.  And honeslty, my H was going to love whatever made me love how I looked that day, so I didn't really worry too much about that.

  • I LOVE that dress!  I wanted to wear it myself but it was too much dress for me (I'm really short). :-(
  • I am soo happpy I am not alone...........

For me, I think it's that I watch these wedding shows and I see people's families going "OMG OMG, THAT is the dress" thus the bride knows everyone loves it. MY family decided they didn't want to influence me so told me EVERY dress was pretty out of worrying that they would tell me my fave dress was ugly.....

I keep thinking "omg, what if people think my dress is ugly" since its a little old quirky looking..

We shouldn't second guess our dress.
  • Thanks so so much everyone! I feel much better :-D
I thought I was going crazy for a minute there!
All this advice is superb! You all are awesome!!
    Thanks again :)

</div><div>THIS.  you go in the store hoping for that reaction from your group.  and nothing.   </div><div>after I started doubting my dress, I realized it was at least partly because I was still seeing different dresses all the time-wedding magazines and too much Say Yes to the Dress.  seeing all those options makes it hard not to doubt.</div>

  • Your dress is GORGEOUS!  I would not regret it if I bought it!  I mean, really, when else in your life will you ever get the chance to wear a beautiful ball gown and feel like a princess?  Maybe you can go in and try the sample on again and re-fall in love with it.

  • absolutely know how you're feeling!! 22 days till the big day and I still keep looking at other dresses I had tried on-I guess we all go through this! I just figure once you have your hair and makeup done, accessories on (veil, jewlery, shoes, etc.) that it will all come together perfectly :)
    You look gorgeous :)
  • Absolutely!

You look gorgeous!  I LOVE that neckline!

Just don't let your fiance see the pics.  Mine saw a link to my dress, thought it was something else, and went on a tangent about it.  Drama city.
