Gray or Turquoise BM dresses?

My wedding colors are turquoise and white. However, I've been thinking lately...will turquoise tiffany blue/pool/aqua BM dresses be too overpowering? As an alternative I was considering dark grey dresses. Turquoise accents would include chair sashes, table runners, and ribbon on BM bouquets, as well as groomsmen ties/vests. Everything else would be white. The only downside to my grey dress idea was that I was set on doing dark charcoal tuxes for the guys, I like it so much better than black.

What do you think? What would look best?

Re: Gray or Turquoise BM dresses?

  • I don't think turquoise (etc) colored BM dresses would be too overpowering especially since everything else will be white or grey (two very neutral colors).

But if you do grey dresses you can most definitely do grey suits.

Either way you go I think it will look very nice so don't stress too much about this.  Why not ask your BMs what color they would rather wear?

  • Check out the pictures of turquoise BM dresses in this post. Same color scheme and I think it turned out sweet.

  • If I were a BM in your wedding, I would prefer grey.  Turquoise dresses, IMO, just look very bridesmaid-y and are unlikely to be worn again.  For that reason, I think you should go grey, but I don't think turquoise dresses would necessarily be overpowering.

I think you could still dress your GMs in charcoal, too.  Charcoal is dark enough that it'll look different from the girls' grey dresses.
