Sewn in bra

I had my first fitting yesterday and the seamstress said my strapless was fine (didn't show) or that I could get a bra sewn in. Most of you all suggested the sewn in over the strapless. She said to buy it and she'd sew it in for me. I was picturing the foam cups I've seen before, but she said something about a gel bra. What should I be looking for? The gel bra (I'm thinking the backless chicken cutlet things) seems like it'd be heavy and pull the dress down. This is my dress:  http://www.morilee.com/bridals/blu/4605

Re: Sewn in bra

  • My seamstress is sewing in cups for me.  They're not foam...more like  batting covered in cloth.   I'm small-chested though (B-cup) so this is more than sufficient to keep me in place.

  • My seamstress also sewed in cups like Avion mentioned into the bust of my dress.  I'm a C cups and I had no worries with it.  I went with the cups over a strapless for a few reasons: 1. my dress dipped down in the back and the bra would have shown, 2. I didn't want to worry about the bra slipping down or peaking out of the top all night, and 3. I was married outside in Florida at the end of May so it was extremely hot and the less I could wear the better.

My seamstress provided the cups but if you're wondering what we're talking about, go to JoAnn's (or any place like that) and ask them for bodice cups.  They shouldn't be more than $10.
