know of a similar dress to this one? (on a budget)

I fell in love with this dress after trying it on without realizing that I could not afford it.  (Is on a $400 dress budget, including shipping)...it's a little less than $600 after taxes on sale.

And that's before getting it altered.

Alfred Angelo Style # 2070.  Love the slimming fit and lace up back!

The drape is diffrent because of the fabric but what about this one from david's bridal. It's on sale right now in the 2s, so you could add some beading for sparkle:

  • Try looking online at netbride, RK bridal, and pearl's place. You might find that dress for less.

  • Your post reaffirms the #1 rule of wedding dress shopping "Don't even try on a dress that's over your budget." This comment is not a slam at you, it's a reminder to other readers of this thread.

I agree with the PP that you should look at dresses at David's Bridal, they should have quite a few styles similar to the one you're asking about - in your price range. When my daughter was dress shopping she ended up with THE least expensive dress in a high-end salon. The dress was under $400 but looked much more expensive. That was just a stroke of luck.

Your dress looks similar to those in many of the manufacturers' "destination wedding" lines. You could check online for informal or destination dresses, I believe many of those are under $400.

You could try phoning salons to ask what dresses they have at your price point. Be prepared to describe your dress succintly, and be prepared for the answer, "You just have to come in and look."
  • Also a word to advice to others shopping, don't trust the salesperson to pick out dresses within your budget.

That's actually how I ended up trying this one on.  I told her my budget and what I was looking for and we walked around to gather dresses.  This one and 2 others was grabbed while I was looking at some on my own.  After trying on about 6 and narrowing it down to two of them, she had me try on this one and it blew the my top 2 out of the water.   Of course that's when I found out the price.  (the other two were in the no pile, so I don't know how much tthey were)

Just have to realize that some do hope to talk you into a bigger commission.  But for me, it just left me feeling screwed since I know that I can't afford the one dress that I really wanted and still think about.
