casablanca dress opinion

Anyone thinking about casablanca #2003?  I tried it on in a store (and in my size!) and loved it, but hate what the dress looks like on model.   Makes me nervous!

Re: casablanca dress opinion

  • Why worry about the model if it was fabulous on you?  The model is not going to be wearing it down the aisle to marry your fiance :-)
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I agree with Meganb.  If you liked it on you then what do you care what it looks like on the model?

  • Don't worry about what it looks like in photos, or on the model.  The light, shape, and just about everything in the photo is fabricated.  What it looks like on you is the only thing that matters.

Just make sure you truly have the right dress # ... eg, that the store didn't accidentally mistag.

  • I have to agree with PP. I also have a Casablanca dress (1900) and don't particularly like the dress on the model, but I love the dress on me. Go with what you like in person, not what it looks like in a picture on another person.

  • Thanks everyone!  Your posts are very helpful!
  • Just agreeing with PPs - you can love a gown on a model, and hate it on yourself and vice versa.  If you love the gown and feel good in it, who cares what it looks like on a model?  It's probably not a bad idea to follow Tanq&Tonic's advice, though, and make sure that the one you love isn't mis-tagged!

just out of curiosity - what is it that you don't like when you see it on the model?

  • I agree with the above.  I got a  Casablanca dress that I would have NEVER considered by looking at the model picture.  But I was open to things at the bridal store and just had the lady choose a bunch of random things.  I'm very short, and so every dress online is going to look different on me.  If it looks great on you, go for it!

PS I got Casablanca #1955 from their fall 2009 line!!!

    Good luck!

  • I found there were dresses I liked better on me than the models.  I have wider hips and a larger butt than most of the models, and the dress style I like hugs my curves and shows off those parts of me.  Since a lot of models don't really have hips/butt, the dresses aren't as sexy on them, imo.

So don't worry about what the dress looks like in pictures.  Just what it looks like on you!
  • I don't like what my dress looks like on the model/in the pics:

but I loved it on me! later I found a photoshoot that used my dress and it was outdoors and on a real bride... the dress looked stunning. unless you look like a model the dress won't look like that on you anyway...
