What matches Brown BM dresses??

I think I've decided on an espresso color tea length dress for my BMs but before I set that decision in stone I want to work out the main details and be sure the FI and I dig the overall look.

My question is.. What kind of suit matches an espresso dress?  Initially I thought khaki, but we're getting married in September and I wasn't sure if it was too summery.  We could do brown for both but then is it too much brown?  Also I don't want to look back on pics and be like 'brown suits! what were we thinking??'

I'd love to hear some opinions...  Thanks!!

  • I think brown suits can look great with brown BM dresses... What other colors are you having for your wedding. I would use another color for the bouteniers, ties, and Bouquets to add color and style. This will tie everything together.
  • However, if you really wanted Khaki, I think that it would be fine in September. Its still hot and summery then.
  • cream coloured suits would look nice and green/and pink flowers with cream coloured ribbon on the flowers.

  • cream, khaki, and brown suits are all fine. I also still think that the traditional black suit works.

  • Honestly, I think brown suits with any color dresses would be a mistake. Maybe I've just never seen it done in a modern way, but it sounds so 1970's to me. That being said, I'd agree that khaki would probably still be ok in september. I would lean toward black though, especially since these days black and brown together isn't such a fashion no-no.
  • Thanks everybody!  I'm glad to have some ideas to bounce off the FI!
  • PIB of tuxes with chocolate vests to make bm dresses.

Please don't do brown suits. They already look dated and that trend just came out two years ago. Brown suits are to men what pickup dresses are to women.
  • We are doing black tuxes with "truffle" colored vests - just another option :)

  • With espresso colored dresses, I would personally go with cream or khaki. I absolutely do not thinik that khaki is too summery for September at all.

The GMs could than wear espresso colored vests and ties to tie in with the BMs. The GM could wear a deeper color of brown to set him apart or even another color that you are using in the wedding.

Of course, you could reverse that as well - the GMs in the secondary wedding color and the groom in either espresso or the depeer color of brown.

The bouts and bouquets will do their part to add color. As well as, as other people have said, the ribbons on the bouquets. Also, if the GMs wear a secondary wedding color for their vests and ties, the BMs could wear sashes in that color. That would look beautiful! :-)
