hair pins vs bobby pins

Hey ladies.  Maybe I am just clueless - what would be the difference between U-pin hair pins and bobby pins?
Looks at some pretty updo's online that have small pearl or beaded pins scattered over the hair, not sure if the U-pin or bobby pin style would stay better or be more versitile for this type of style?
Help?!?

Re: hair pins vs bobby pins

  • I found that bobby pins held my hair better when I tried to do an updo with barrel curls.  My stylist did use some u-pins when doing more of a french twist type hairstyle so maybe they are better for that.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • Hey MrsZeno
I think that hair pins are just to decorate the hair; not bobby pins--they are for hold.
  • I use hair pins to hold a bun in place, or a french twist. They grab more hair than bobby pins so I need fewer. I use bobby pins to hold my bangs back, or any hair I want flat against my head. Hope this helps.
