I am a bridesmaid in a friend's upcoming budget wedding. She has fallen in love with a beautiful Alfred Angelo gown that is twice her budget. Her solution is to order a gown online, unseen, from China through Tony's Bridal. Her "inspiration dress" is $1600 and the China-made dress is under $200. She also wants us to order our bridesmaid dresses through this website to save about $50. I am EXTREEMLY opposed to this. While you don't have to break the bank to have a lovely gown, I worry that the online dresses will be of poor quality and I suspect at such low prices, they are made in a sweat shop of some kind.
How can I tell the bride I don't ethically agree with her new money saving idea (and that she is nuts for considering buying a gown without ever trying it on or seeing the materials) without being rude or unsupportive?
