Destination/Chiffon Dress for Winter?

I love the laid-back style of destination dresses.  I especially love the empire-waisted, chiffon dresses that are making a comeback right now.  But my wedding is next January...

Would it look weird to have a simpler, light dress with a faux fur shrug or other type of jacket?

Because I'm a comfort queen I wouldn't dare to don anything that lightweight in cold weather. If you can find something with a heavier underskirt then I'd say go ahead. Just remember if you aren't comfortable you'll be distracted.
