Groom/GM attire

FI and I went to Men's Wearhouse and a few other places today to look at suits, and found out that they cannot be rented. We are getting married on the beach and a tux is out of the question. He's not sure of what to wear other than purchasing a suit and having the groomsmen purchase matching pants without the jacket (they will all wear white linen shirts). Do we ask them to meet us at the mall and buy the pants all together?

Mall suits might be pretty expensive (the same as renting a tux).  I'd recommend going to places like Kohls or Burlington Coat Factory to see if they have what you are looking for. 

You can probably pick up a khaki or grey suit for not too much.  Once you find the one you like, you can give the style number to the GMs and they can purchase their own.

I don't know what your budget is for a suit but we went to JC Penny's Saturday and got a 3 piece black suit for $177.  You could ask the groomsmen to just get black pants from any store to make it easy for them.  Plus, they could always wear those again.
