strapless dress...necklace needed?

I have a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline.  I am not sure if I need to purchase a necklace or just do chandelier earrings. Any suggestions? There is a band of sparkle around the ribcage area, but not near the top of the dress.

Are you wearing your hair up or down? Are you wearing a veil and is the edge embellished? Those were the 2 big factors for me deciding to not wear a necklace.

Can you post a pic of the dress?  I typically lean towards wearing SOME kind of jewelry...even if it's a very simple thing.  I have a halter top and that's the one style where I'd go minimal and I'm wearing a necklace with a small pearl pendant...ya gotta have a little something.  Otherwise it's just too much bare skin (and I don't mean that to sound as scandalous as it does...)

Like PP said, it depends on the dress.  My dress has a lot going on.  It's a rouched bodice with a sweetheart neckline and then silk organza tiers down in the skirt.  There's also a beaded belt.  So I went with simple drop earrings and no necklace.  If it was a more simple dress (and I didn't want to wear the earrings that I am), then I would have worn a necklace.

My dress was also sweetheart with lots of beading and lace.  I wore my hair up (with flowers).  Since my hair was up, I wanted something around my neck, but I wanted it very simple so I wore a I strand of pearls (family).  It was a good balance with my dress.

I decided day of our wedding that I needed a necklace with my sweetheart neckline. I wore simple drop earrings and I had my hair up. Once I was all dressed I felt like I was missing something. Fortunately my mother let me borrow a simple small solitaire diamond necklace of hers. It was minimal, but did the trick.

Also - it's really helpful to have EVERYTHING you're wearing that day when you do your fittings.  It helps to see if you have too much or too little.

This is up to a lot of factors. How much bling (if any) is on your veil and how you are wearing your hair are crucial factors. You don't have to wear ANY jewelry if you don't want to, its just an accessory to compliment your dress if you feel it needs some extra sparkle.

I'm not wearing a necklace with my sweetheart dress, b/c I feel like chandelier earrings frame the face better.
