Bridal Party Attire...Does it go? - PIP Heavy

So I'm having a really difficult time deciding on my bridal party "look". FI and I are going with an autumn inspired feel for the reception with browns, reds, oranges and perhaps hints of eggplant...This is the color inspiration...

FI would like him and his side of the bridal party to be in black tuxes.

My gown is going to be white, but I'm adding a wide black sash and black shoes (I'm one of those brides who should have just picked an all black gown) and I will be carrying an brooch bouquet like this....

I really would like my side of the bridal party to be in black and originally I wanted the girls to carry autumn inspired bouquets like the one pictured below but I think the bouquet I have picked out would be more suited for dark brown gowns...

I'm afraid the fall inspired bouquets won't work with my all-in-black-attired bridal party (which is will look more 'black tie' then anything). Should I change the girls bouquets to simple white florals and not have the bridal party coordinate at all with the feel of the reception?

If it helps, this is the type of gown my girls will be wearing...

Opinions please?!

  • The colors in that bouquet are lovely, and I think they would really pop against a black dress.

  • I agree with PP. Those colors look pretty nice with a black dress. Maybe you could consider boutineers for the groomsmen that are in similar colors to help everyone look cohesive?

  • I think the BM bouquets would be nice against black dresses!  Agree w/ PP.....have the groomsman bouts be in the fall color.   If anything, I would change your bouquet a little....maybe more ivory/white with silver accents.
  • Agreed, those flowers (which I love) will definitely contrast nicely with a black gown.

  • I guess I'm the odd woman out. I agree that those flowers would look better against brown dresses. Would they look bad against black? No. If It were me, I would do the white flower route.

  • Or...you mentioned that you would be doing touches of eggplant. Maybe you could do more eggplant colored flowers with white and cream for the bridesmaids.

  • You mentioned eggplant, what about the girls in eggplant colored dresses with the orange flowers while keeping your GMs in black? We have our BMs and GMs in different colors. I love bright flowers, I think the orange would look awesome against a deep purple. With that said, I think it will really pop against black too.

  • My next color pick of a gown for the girls would be dark brown, but my mom then thinks if we go with dark brown, that I should nix my black sash, which I won't get rid of. She thinks it will 'throw everything off'.

As much as I would love to do an eggplant colored gown, I wont' go with it, my brother will be standing on my side of the bridal party and I would either have him in a black tux or a dark brown tux...I want him to be matching the girls gowns as much as possible since he will be standing on my side.

  • The black gowns with that color scheme will look beautiful.  I wouldn't change a thing.  A friend of mine did the exact same colors with black BM dresses and it was lovely.  You're way overthinking it.  Honestly I think the black gowns will look much nicer than brown ones.
  • I think those colors would pop off of a black dress.

If you decide you want to do eggplant dresses, you could always have your brother in a black tux with eggplant accessories (vest/tie/cummerbund)
