HELP!!! How do I stop sliding forward in my wedding heels?

I bought a pair of sandals for my wedding in July. The sandals have 1 1/2 in heels since I have bad knees and am not supposed to wear heels at all. The problem I found is 1. my feet are wider than the sandal and 2. my feet slide forward in the heel when they start to sweat. Is there anything I can do to stop them from sliding? I think I would make it through the ceremony if I could at least get my feet to stay in the right spot.

  • First off, you need shoes that fit better.  They make lots of pretty sandals with low heels in wide widths so I'd start there.  Depending on the style of sandal, you could put an insert in the toe to push your foot back and keep it in place, but honestly, no one is going to be able to even see your shoes so I would opt for pretty flat sandals.  A lot of brides where flats anyway since you'll be on your feet all day.  I'm wearing them for that reason and because FI is only about an inch taller and I don't want to look like a giant in the pics.  I'd check endless.com and dsw.com and you'll see that there are a TON of options out there that will make you more comfortable and still look pretty.

  • Thanks! I'm a little uneasy about shopping online since I'm all over the place when it comes to shoe sizes, but I will definitely check those sites out. My FI is about 8 inches taller than I am so I can get away with wearing a little heel. Plus, I think heels help with posture. I did find a very comfortable pair of flip flops that have a wedge heel the same height as the shoes I found. If I can't find anything else, and I can't get comfy in these shoes, I may just wear the flip flops and be done with it. My dress has a nice round skirt so no one will see my feet anyway.
  • DSW has a wonderful selection of heels that come in wide widths. I got a pair of Lulu Townsend brand for my wedding. They have a great return policy too, and reviews indicate how true to size they run. Also wedges do tend to be more comfortable, and I personally chose to avoid anything too strappy, because they get uncomfortable when your feet perspire.  I am changing into a pair of glitter toms for the reception.
  • I found my wide-width shoes and sandles on endless.com.  They have free returns.  If its possible, you may want to try these: (they sell these pretty much everywhere but i just found the link at walgreens)

Both sites have free shipping and free returns so you can try as many as it takes to get the right fit.  They also have details about the shoes in regards to fit like "runs true to size" or "runs small."  The only downside to the flip flops for the ceremony may be the sound.  Not sure if they make that "pop" sound when you walk or not, but that may be awkward when you're walking down the aisle.  One last note, yes, you can wear heels and yes they help with posture, but you mentioned bad knees so that's why I suggested the flats.  Just didn't want your knees to be acting up on your big day. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
