Designers Who Make Dresses in Unusual Colors?

Hey All,

So I'm a weird, quirky, artist type and I'm searching for designers who make bridal gowns in unusual colors.  All the suggestions I've come across suggest looking at bridesmaid dresses instead, but they are just not as grand.  I'm definitely willing to get a custom made gown, or even make it myself, but I'm hoping to at least find some pictures for inspiration.

Any suggestions???

  • Is it possible to buy a white gown and have it dyed?  I have no idea how that would turn out.  Since you are willing to have your dress custom made, why don't you just look at bridal gowns for inspiration and then you could bring pictures to the designer of what you like.  You could even find several dresses where you like certain ideas of each one.

  • Maggie Sottero carries many gowns in light blue, light pink, red, silver, and some other colors. There are other designers who do as well (I know Enzoani has some blue gowns).

While bridesmaid dresses aren't as grand, because no one wants to upstage the bride, you might consider looking at other types of evening dresses. You can get just about any silhouette you want if you know where to look. There are a lot of slimmer silhouette gowns on bluefly.com. I'm not quite sure where to look for ballgown-type dresses unless you look at prom attire, but I know it's out there.
  • Oh, and on the subject of inspiration photos, you might want to check out Offbeat Bride.
  • i second maggie Sottero, I bought one  of her pink gowns, it's really pretty, I'm not going to end up wearing it, it's too ballgown for my wedding, but it's the perfect shade of soft pink and very wedding dress.
  • You might like dresses by Wai Ching.  Not only do they come in colors, but they are kind of artsy in design and most of them are inexpensive.  The only problem is that you may have difficulty trying any of them on unless you can get to Seattle.  She does make them to your measurements though, and I know plenty of people have had good experiences with her.

Also, Mia Solano has tons of colored gowns, and you would probably have better luck finding one to try on locally.  They are inexpensive, but I've never actually tried one on in person, so I don't know anything about the quality.  Good luck!

Any gown on this site can be made in over 60 different colors!  Plus it is highly recommended by Offbeat Brides.  Good luck!
  • Maggie Sottero makes a really dramatic red dress that I love... there are actually a lot of them out there with color, you just have to be patient in your search!
