Using the restroom on your Big Day...

Okay ladies, what are your plans for how to tackle this dilemma? I imagine that some dresses are easier than others to um...manage...but how are you handling it? I'm still dress shopping and don't have a game plan yet lol

  • I have heard go towards the toilet forwards so you don't have to deal with the train.
  • What a great recommendation! Thank you!
  • I didn't wear a spanx or anything similar, so I only had to deal with the dress and panties. My dress wasn't super huge, but I needed someone to help me. It was slightly embarassing at first, but I got over it. She held all of the dress up for me. I could see how sitting forwards would help, but you still might need someone to hold all the dress up.

  • Millions of brides are able to use the restroom fine in their dresses. Unless you're eyeing Cinderella style ball gowns or dresses so tight they look like they've been painted on, I think you're over-thinking it and shouldn't let bathroom worries dictate your decision.

Most brides either have  WP member help them hold the dress up, walk towards the toilet like PP suggested, or just hike and hold up their dress themselves.
  • I have also heard about sitting face forward on the potty, so I will probably try that. I just know I will also have my sister & whoever else there if I need help bc I definitely don't want my dress getting wet by toliet water.
  • It seems to me like in all of my friend's facebook pictures of their wedding day there's always the obligatory picture of friends holding the girl's dress up while she pees. It's always entertaining lol. Not the classiest thing in the world, but hey, whatever works - it's REAL female bonding helping a friend pee on her wedding day apparently. lol
  • As others said...take a BM with you and she'll hold your dress up while you go.

  • I think I can manage my dress on my own... if not, thank you bridal suite.  Is a dry (slight pun intended) run worth trying.  I mean a low hard back chair... to see how the dress moves and falls to see just how much help will be necessary.

  • I'm so going to try the face forward/squat method, hahaha, thanks for the info!
  • I had a ballgown and it was no problem. Just had a couple of my BM's to help and make sure you use the handicap stall as it's larger for all to fit.

  • My dress had a huge train and I just had two girls help me.  No big deal - it worked just fine.  They held up the dress and train.
  • I have a cinderalla ballgown and all you need to do is round up the bridal party girls and say ok bathroom time each take a piece and it works out perfectly
  • If i need help i will ask my mom or my sister to help me.. I am sure we will find a way to make it work.. Maybe try it at home a few times to see what works best for you.. ( i don't mean wear your dress all day adn when you have to pee have somene help you .. I mean put it on and have a friend or someone help you and try different ways to go pee before the wedding that way when the day coms you got your plan..)

  • I specifically bought a dress where I could use the bathroom. Seriously, you're a grown woman, you should get a dress where you can use the toilet.
