How long did it take you to find "The Dress"?

I'm having a hell of a time, so I was wondering how much searching everyone else did before they found the perfect dress.

  • Within one day.  I went to two stores.  I tried on about 6 at the first store and 4 at the second store.  I didn't want to get married in white, so I had a much smaller selection, which was good.  The dress I found at the second store was perfect.
  • 6 months. Srsly. With internet research and everything. I just didn't get that "feeling" about any one dress and was way nervous about it.

I didn't get that feeling about the one I ordered, either, but I love it and only regret that I can't wear 2 or 3 dresses at the wedding ;)  (I just really liked a bunch of aspects of different dresses. Couldn't have 1 made with all of the aspects because they were super conflicting. I'm a picky chick, I guess? Whatever. I love my dress and was SO.GLAD. when the dress hunt was over lmao!)

  • I found a dress online and loved it.  Then I went to a different website and found a dress that I loved.  After looking at the two dresses I realised that it was the same dress (just in different colors)!  I went to the store (Alfred Angelo) and tried it on first and knew that it really was the dress for me.  I tried on one other dress though, but it didn't compare.  I kind of wish I would have visited other stores, and tried on more then just two dresses, but after picking the same dress out from two different sources, it seemed right.
  • Just about two months.  The only reason it took so long was that I HAD to try on this one particular dress, and none of the stores that carried the line had it.  I eventually went to the Pronovias flagship store in NYC, where I could just LOOK at it (and have a friend try it for me, which worked okay) because it was a size 4.  But I love it, so it was all worth it.

  • I totally understand supporting local business, my FI's parents are small, local business owners, so we try to buy local as much as possible.
