new development in my purse saga

It turns out there are scratches/dents/indentations in our back door at the office that is usually locked.  It will only open with a swipe card, but the lock is somewhat flimsy on it, and it's very obvious that someone pried it open recently.

Everyone at the office is freaking out now. My office is downstairs and closest to the back door, so if someone did, in fact, pry open the door and run downstairs, my office would have been the easiest to sneak into and grab something.

My heart is breaking just thinking about it. And I don't feel safe anymore.

  • That is terrible! Make sure you're being extra careful from here on out. How scary :(

  • Can your work somehow reimburse you for the stolen items? Shouldn't they be responsible for making sure that the office is safe and secure? I would talk to HR about it.
  • sorry about your purse butterfly.

Can someone give me cliff notes I missed the first post?

  • Someone swiped my whole purse from my office yesterday afternoon - wallet, jewelry, all my keys, credit cards, ipod, flash drives, everything was in it.

No one could figure out what happened since my office is pretty secure (some people were convinced I had just misplaced my purse - I didn't) but we found the marks in the door that showed it had been pried open just a little bit ago.
  • Holy sh*t, butterfly.  People are getting really desperate nowadays.  I hope you're able to get everything resolved soon so you can put this behind you.

OMG I am so sorry that is so annoying to deal with!!  I had my wallet stolen out of my purse when i was a waitress in college.  It was a Dooney and Burke purse with a matching wallet.  They just stole the wallet but left the purse.  But I just came back from Mexico so I had my birth certificate and SS card in my wallet on top of money and all of my credit cards.  It was really annoying to replace everything.  5 years later I got everything back in the mail beside the money and wallet.  It turns out someone was walking their dog by the train tracks close to the restaurant that I worked at.  The picked it up and sent it to me.

So hopefully they just wanted your money and ipod and will return your keys and stuff somehow?

  • And not for nothing but your company should be paying to replace all of your items that were in the purse as well!!

  • Wow! That's ridiculous that they pried open the door to get into an office building and during the day time! I would definitely contact someone in your office HR probably to get an insurance claim going for the lost items.

OMG that is so scary. How could that have happened when you were all presumably in the office? I guess the thief got lucky not being seen.

I'm so sorry you are going through this Butterfly!
