Should I have the train shortened?

I have to have my dress hemmed for length but I would also love to shorten the train a bit.  Do you think this dress would look good with a shorter train?  I'm afraid it may look slightly disproportioned.

  • I think it looks great the way it is.

[QUOTE]I think it looks beautiful as is! Also, altering a train like that is usually pretty pricey due to the detail.  You can bustle it after the ceremony and then it will be out of your way.

Totally agree! It doesn't look too long for a ceremony, and a bustle will fix you up for the reception!
  • No way, I think it is beautiful the way it is.

  • If there is an in-store alterations person, ask her to pin it up for you so that you can see what it will look like after alterations (and when bustled). I was told by an alterations worker that when the dress is hemmed, there will also be changes to the train, especially if you need a lot taken off.

But I agree with the other posts... looks great with the train!

  • I think it looks great the way it is and once you are done with the ceremony you can always get it bustled away. :)
