Bridesmaidswhat style and color shoes?

Im getting married in September and was wondering what style shoe and color i should have the girls look for. I have 5 girls all together. My sister in law is worried about the height of the heel since she NEVER wears heels. Shes a tomboy so shes always in sneakers and I really appreciate her as a bridesmaid because she doesn't wear dresses! Im close with her so I want to make her feel comfortable and I think having a low heel would be better for everyone since we will be taking pictures and such my shoes are even a low heel!!! Anywaytheir dress color is a a mix btwn emerald and shamrock green. The flowers are going to be fall coloreddifferent variations of orange. So i was thinking a gold shoe? But then someone made a comment that they would look like leprachauns? Then someone said well what about a dyeable shoe? I like the idea of a dyeable shoe, however since my girls have already spent money on a dressi really dont want them spending too much money on a pair of shoes they might not wear againso I was opting for some cheap pair of strappy shoes. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Bridesmaidswhat style and color shoes?

  • You're supposed to pay for shoes if you're dictating what they wear.  Why not have them just wear whatever pair of black shoes they already probably have in their closet?  Dyeables suck.  The color tends to rub off and you NEVER wear them again.
  • I would say either a black, nude, silver or gold shoe would work.  Pick a color (those are pretty typical colors) and tell them to buy any shoe they want in that color.

Now if you are wanting them to buy dyeable shoes and then have them dyed a certain color, then you are getting specific and should pay for them yourself.

  • first of all -- do they have long or short dresses?

long dresses = let them wear whatever black shoes they want/have
short dresses = perhaps brown, dyable, or black.  -- match/similar styles.

let them choose their own styles (as long as they're sort of similar - aka pick ONE category: strappy vs peeptoe vs ballet flat, etc. they can choose whatever within that category).  Also, heel height doesnt matter. Your girls will most likely be all different heights anyway.  Let your sis in law do a kitten or short/wide heel so she's comfortable, but not in flats.

I really don't think bridesmaid shoes even have to be similar. Take the different tastes and preferences of your bridesmaids into account.

For example, I have a nagging foot problem from the after-effects of a bad broken bone. I can't wear heels if I'm going to be standing/walking for more than a few minutes. Trust me, no bride's wedding and/or pictures has been ruined when I'm wearing dressy flats and the other bridesmaids are wearing heels.

Just decide what's more important...your bridesmaids being comfortable or everyone being matchy-matchy clones.

  • Go with classic black and let them pick whatever style they are comfortable wearing. So one girl can wear 4 inche heels while your one who is a tom boy can get flats or wedges. If their comfortable in their shoes, they'll walk more confidentially and that will show in their face and smiles in all the pictures. The other color option if you don't want black that would be easy to find, silver.

  • You could always get a nude shoe - that would be lovely! I don't think a gold would look like a leprechaun, unless it had curly pointed toes :) I think a strappy sandal wouldn't look like that at all in gold either or even a champagne metallic color? Hope that helps!
