I found "The One" but..

So...I found the perfect dress.  I knew it was exactly what I wanted to moment I laid eyes on it.  And the price point was a tenth of what I was prepared to spend.  The problem?

The dress comes from a poorly reviewed, known scam site www.dressale.com.

Money isn't the issue, I just want that dress.  I can't seem to find the same one in any "legitimate" bridal shop.

Part of me is so in love with this dress that I am willing to roll the dice and pray that they don't screw me.  At the same time, I don't want to be "naked at the altar".

The dress of my dreams is pictured here.  If anyone knows of a legitimate shop I can get this dress from, please, please tell me.

  • I did an image search on google. I found your dress to be from the YOU BY ROMANTICA FASHION 2011  BY SOFIA BORISOVA

Doesn't look like she sells in the states though Frown

  • I was going to say what CMG said... you can find a similar dress in a store that you try on, and a good seamstress can add the sleeves.
We actually have a woman in Dallas that we on the local boards absolutely ADORE. She's made a set of bridesmaid dresses, full on wedding dresses, and veils, in additions to normal alterations.
Come on over to the Dallas board and we can help you find a shop that you love!
  • Maybe you could find a seamstress in your area to custom make something similar for you?
  • This may sound a little crazy but, the gown resembles ones my best friend tried on for her Renaissance style wedding a few years ago.  If you can't find any similar main-stream designers, try googling Renaissance wedding dresses.  She found a ton of patterns too and a seamstress made her mom's gown.  Sounds like you've got a great seamstress in your area.. maybe she can add sleeves to something like this:

  • I love those sleeves!  The really good news is that they are super easy to add to any dress.  AND, you can go into pretty much any fabric store to find patterns for them.  I used to work in Faires, and we all hand-made our dresses.  It's a popular thing to do, and all fabric stores carry tons of Medieval patterns that include those sleeves.

Just bring one to your local seamstress so she can see what you want, with a picture of that dress, and let her do her thing with a dress you bought from a real store.

Her site has a contacts page including an email address - you could always email to see if you can purchase through her site or through one of the store outlets?
