So I am considering wearing a very non traditional dress for my June wedding in the park. I purchased a sequin gown from a department store that I love but my friends and family are horrified by the idea. Now I understand the day is about my fianc and I and that i should just wear a dress i love, but this is not calming my fears. Does anyone have photos of their non traditional dress?

This is your wedding, if you prefer a non traditional wedding dress, just go for it. It doesn't matter what kind of wedding dress other people wear, what really matters is your own feeling. Just follow your heart and be happy!

You're including other people in your wedding day so, no, it's is not you and your fiance's day solely.  However, what dress you wear has zero impact on others.  Wear what makes you happy!

If you want, you can post some pictures of you in your dress and we can give you some encouragement!

You're the one that will be looking back at the pictures 25 years from now and several times between your wedding and then. Go with whatever dress makes you happy because you don't want to look at your wedding pictures and be sad about the dress you wore.

"Sequins" and "park" do not really go together in my mind. But if you really want to wear a sequin gown to get married in a park, sure why not.

I  think a sequinned gown is too glamourous for an outdoor park wedding.   Don't you want to have some consistency in the formality of your venue and the formality of your attire?

It's so hard when you fall in love with a dress your family doesn't love. I'm having exactly your fear for the opposite reason- the dress I chose is way MORE traditional than my family would have liked (it's wicked ballgown-y and very poofy). That being said, I tried on over 40 dresses and this was the only one that made me smile. Wear the dress YOU love. You have to be in a dress that you'll love on your wedding day. I'm sure you'll look gorgeous and you and your fiance will be so happy, and that's all your guests will be thinking about, not the style of your dress. Also I LOVE the idea of a sequined wedding dress! That sounds so cool!

You could compromise and wear a more traditional dress for the ceremony and some pictures and then change into your dream dress for the reception.
