Ok so due to a lot of drama thanks to DB (that I won't necessarily get into fully here), I'm between a rock and a hard place. I ordered a dress I like alright, but I love a different dress that's been discontinued. Basically the only one I can easily get my hands on in good shape is a size 8, which I tried on and it wasn't so godawfully huge (I had about four inches pinned in the back at the part that needed the most off). I would've ordered a size 2, to be nipped in at the waist yet a bit.
DB says they won't alter more than 1-2 sizes down (they say they can't- obviously I don't 100% buy that). If I buy the size 8, do you think I'd be able to alter it down? It's this dress:

I'm waiting on a phone call from customer service to see if I can get my paws on a size 4, which would make my life a lot easier, but I don't think it's gonna happen. I don't want to buy it if it's impossible to alter as far as I need, but I've had size 12's in regular dresses altered to fit my size 0 frame, so I'm not sure if they're bs-ing me or not. The money for alterations is not really a huge issue at this point. I can go up to $400 in alterations.
On a related note, has anyone had any success canceling an order with DB and getting their money back? I'm so fed up with the customer service at this point that I'm ready to be done with them if they tell me I can't have this dress. I ordered the other dress three days ago. The wedding is still over a year away. If you canceled an order with them and got your money back, how did you do it? I'm willing to act like a bridezilla beyotch at this point if necessary- it's so not me, but this whole process has been that bad. I'm really sad about that though because the actual staff in the store has been *so* incredibly kind and understanding and wonderful, I hate to take the sale from them, but their corporate customer service has been so beyond abysmal I'm just fed up.
Thoughts/suggestions/help a girl out? Even if it's a "sorry you're out of luck", I need to hear it from someone other than the store. Thanks.
