Ivory Dress. Does he have to wear ivory shirt?

Men's Warehouse, apparently thinks so.  Do you?  Because it's throwing off the whole black and white color thing.  I didn't think an Ivory dress was such a big deal.  I have dark skin, so everything looks white on me.

Thoughts?

Re: Ivory Dress. Does he have to wear ivory shirt?

  • No, he doesn't have to.  If you don't like the way it looks go with white.  I found that MW's version of ivory was much darker (more yellow) than my dress so FI went with a white shirt.  No one will even notice.

  • I went ivory with FI's shirt because my dress is, and pictures are where it shows. The ivory we had at our tux place is not yellowy at all tho.
  • As a general rule, it's not going to be noticeable in photos if your dress is ivory and his shirt is white. It should be fine.

  • yeah I doubt anyone would notice.
  • Ivory = white.  My gown was ivory, and not only did DH wear a white shirt, the guys wore white tuxes.  And my hat was white.  You can only tell in the pictures if you look really closely, and we stuck with a black and white color scheme.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I think it matters, but I'm very picky about things.  Stuff like that bothers me.  We went to Men's Wearhouse and hated the ivory shirts, so we went to where I got my dress, and their ivory is a better color to match my dress.
  • No, it doesn't matter. You're never going to get an ivory that exactly matches your dress, and ivory shirts usually look dirty, so you're better off having him wear white. Besides, most people aren't going to see your dress and think it's ivory, people usually see brides' dresses as white.
