makeup

this may be in the wrong place, but this is my first time posting on this site and i'm a little desperate. a couple of the makeup artists i've approached use airbrushing. i have really fair skin and am worried it will look weird and cakey. can anyone share any experiences with airbrushed makeup, or what is more "standard" for brides these days. thanks. :)

Re: makeup

  • This is okay place to post, but just for future reference there is a Wedding Beauty board as well.

Airbrushed makeup is actually lighter than normal makeup because of the way it is applied. It still provides great coverage, but doesn't cake and flake off. I used it on my wedding day and got a trial (which I highly recommend doing because the first MUA I tried was horrible at it) and it lasted about 10 hours from the time it was applied until the time I washed it off that night. I didn't need any touch ups during the day and it actually photographs better than traditional makeup. It sets immediately without needing to put powder on top and it doesn't rub off. I think it was completely worth the added cost and you should at least get a trial to test it out for yourself.

  • I agree with PPs - airbrushed makeup is very light and leaves a flawless finish.
Try it out, I'm sure you'll like it!

For what its worth I've used it before, but not for my wedding, although I wish I had.  My MUA didn't have the equipment and just used regular foundation.  She still did a great job, but my skin definitely didn't look as nice at the end of the night as nice as when we started.

  • Airbrushed is the only way to go in my opinion, and worth the money. Mine lasted over 11 hours. Actually it would have lasted longer, I just washed my face. It looks great in your photos too.

  • As someone who wears airbrushed makeup daily, it is *absolutely* the way to go.  Nothing I've ever used looks as natural, feels as light, or lasts as long.  It should not cake, but if you can, go for a trial.  You can ask your make-up artist to vary the coverage/spray for a more or less finished look.

  • wow. lots of airbrush support. thanks so much for all the feedback, and i will check out the beauty board. i am going to have two trials, one with a woman who does the airbrushing, and one with the other makeup artist who does not use it.
