Bustling

I am going to have to decide soon which type of bustle I would like. My dress is pretty much all lace so they said I could do a traditional or a french bustle.
Pros /cons to either?

Is one harder for my MOH to learn to do?
Is one more costly?
Is one more likely to break or fall?

Love advice.

My dress is casablanca 1900

Re: Bustling

  • they're both pretty easy to fasten. typically color coded ribbons and such.  a lot depends on the weight of your dress, and your personal preference.  i didn't like the over-bustle much because my dress was a narrow A-line, and i thought that it made it look like i had dress coming out my butt. lol

i chose the french underbustle.  there was a lot of beading detail at the end of my train (you can kind of see in my siggy pic), and with the underbustle, i was able to have some of the buttons show, and then the sparkle peek out at the bottom.  the whole thing kept my dress shape well, so from all angles, my dress still looked like the A-line it was instaed of having a bump-out in the back.

i felt that the underbustle was more secure...but maybe that's just me.

my dress was mori lee 2302, and this dress is similar....so mine bustled like this, but had sparkle on the bottom.

have her pin both at your fitting, and see which you like better!
