After some thought, I am considering drafting a pattern to make my own gown. I had a specific vision of the dress that I wanted, found it....only to find that the manufacturer doesn't make it in my size. The dressmakers in this area state that such a gown would cost me around $1800 for the labor....and the fabric is pricey too.
I'm a pretty savvy dressmaker myself....and have made a few simple gowns for other brides. Still, I'm a little overwhelmed at the idea of making my own gown with all of the expectations that us brides (including me) have for what we're going to wear walking down the aisle.
Has anyone gone with the DIY route on this? Any tips?
