Wedding Day Hair question

So I "booked" (I use quotations bc they did not require a deposit) a hair and makeup artist way back last summer. Both are coming to my home for a small travel fee and I thought overall their prices were good (both w/trials).

Makeup-85

I went to the salon to get my hair cut before my epics yesterday. I just started going there a few months ago but love the girl I have been working with. She remembered when I was getting married and such, but clearly forgot that I said I already had hair/makeup people.

She was talking about how doing wedding day hair/make up in the salon is so nice and relaxing and how it would take probably just two hours and blah blah. Like I was going to do it there.

I thought having someone come to the house was the easier thing to do. My mom always thought that having people come over the house would be stressful and didn't like the idea. Plus she thinks it will take forever to get everyone done because 1-2 people can fit in the bathroom at a time (1-2 getting hair, and 1-2 stylists)

Going to the salon would be cheaper, and its literally 5 mins away from my house. I have never had my makeup or up do done by my new stylist, but obviously I would have a trial.

I am thinking now that I kinda want to go to the salon?

Thoughts? Opinions? (sorry its kinda long)

I see your conundrum. I would have a few questions though.
At the salon are they going be able to do more than 2 girls at a time?
How many stylists would be coming to the house? They also don't have to be in the bathroom to be doing hair. Mostly they would need a plug in and a mirror.
What would you be doing while you are wait at the salon?
Would you be able to relax?
If you are at home, are you going be able to make sure you aren't doing projects?
Can you bring food into the salon or are they providing food?

I don't have any advice but to answer these questions and see how you feel about everything. Good Luck!

I had the same issue only because I'm not close to home, do we pay for someone to come to the hotel, or do we go to the salon?

I ended up going with a salon that will shut down for us, only 2 stylists but we can bring food/champange what not and try to relax.  It's 10 mins from the ceremony site so if we run late we're ok.  My only concern is getting dressed in their bathroom because I can't get dressed at the cermony place, but that's ok the hotel would be no different.

I would def go with PP questions.  You won't have to clean the house for the girls or the stylists, if you can save a bit by just going to the salon that's a plus too!  Personally I think I'm ok with spending the day in the salon so that I'm not thinking of something else to focus on or worry about.

Finally in your case, you're still close to home so if something comes up, have them do your hair and make up last (so you'll be the freshest) and you have time to run home (or have someone run for you).

I had mine done at the salon and the stylist let me bring food and beverages for the girls. I made a cheese, cracker, vegetable, and fruit plate. I also had danishes and mimosas. The salon was completely fine with that. Honestly, going to the salon was far less stressful for me and for my mom. There was plenty of space and if you go to a salon you could potentially have all your girls getting done at the same time with less wait time.

Very good points Lauren. I will have to do some asking....

I know she said there would probably be 5-6 girls there available to do hair and my stylist mainly does the make up but others could do make up too. (Although only my MOH and I are getting make up done)

I think she said we could be out and in in two hours. I would be going home after to actually get dressed and such.

Asking about food is a good question too.

You girls are so helpful!!! I think I might be leaning towards the salon..

As someone who works in a salon ... it is MUCH easier to go to the salon and have your hair and makeup done. The setup is right (stylists and makeup artists aren't trying to work with clients in kitchen chairs, etc.), and it's a lot easier for them to work on you and things move a lot faster, therefore allowing you more time to enjoy your day and less time getting ready. Our salon has a bridal area and we allow parties to bring in pizza, sandwiches, mimosas, whatever they want. I know when we have bridal parties in our salon we have everything working in a rotation. We recently had a bridal party of 7 in for hair and makeup and they were out in 2 1/2 hours. Depending on your salon, they should be able to have you out with MORE THAN ENOUGH time to spare and you'll be able to get dressed at home (provided you wear a button-down shirt!). I know we charge less when having your services done in-salon, so you'd likely save time AND money. Hope this helps!
