Corset Bra Help!

So when I tried my dress on, they didn't have any of these that fit me.. but I liked the bra itself. It was seamless, strapless, and went down to my hips. I know it has another name but I can't think of it. My problem is finding one w/ a bust big enough, but a band small enough. I have this problem w/ my every day bras too, but have found a couple places that have been great; however, they don't make anything like this. My band is a 32-34 and my cup size is DD, depending on the bra. Usually my problem is that if the cup size is big enough, the straps are too long for my shoulders, but that doesn't apply w/ the one I need for my dress since it's strapless. Anyof you ladies know of some good places I can look? If I have to, I'll just have small cups sewn into my dress, but I want that to be my last resort.

  • Fredericks of Hollywood.

And the word you were thinking of is a longline bra :-)

  • Ahhh! Longline! Yes. Thank you. I'm on a new migraine medication that is known for making you forget specific words when you're trying to think of them. I finally just gave in and started saying I can't remember what this and that is called. LOL. This will help me look more! Thank you! And I forgot about Fredericks, I thought they went out of business or something but it looks like that isn't the case.
  • I'm the same bra size as you, and I've found that my local lingerie specialty shop (it's actually called the Bust Stop--haha, I love puns!) is a good option.  It's pricier, but when it comes to a proper-fitting, well-made bra, I'm willing to pay for the comfort and support.  Most urban areas have at least one such shop (I'm in a mid-sized city, and we have two), and they often cater to ladies who are less-common sizes.  Look in the Yellow Pages.  Best wishes!

  • My daughter is a 32 DD, and found something online through Victoria Secret (she can rarely get the size in the store itself).  She brought it with when she had her first alteration fitting and something did not feel right to her.  At the suggestion of the seamstress, she tried the dress on again, but this time with cups that would be sewn into the dress.  She said there was NO comparison and went immediately with the cups being sewn into the dress.

She kept the tags on the longline bra (just in case) and was able to return it.  My daughter needs a LOT of support and had never considered this as an option originally.  I would recommend that you try both options before you make a final decision.
  • Fredricks is great for odd sizes like that!!
  • Thanks for all the advice ladies!
