What type of bustle?

Does anyone have pics of their dress all bustled up? I'm trying to get ideas and google isn't being much help. I know my seamstress will have ideas but I like to go in to things like that a little bit informed :)

This is my dress (sorry I don't have a better one of the bottom of my dress):

Thanks ladies!

Re: What type of bustle?

  • Oh, and one more opinion question... I wanted a true sweetheart neckline, and then found this dress. Do you think if I changed the neckline to more of a sweetheart, that would look right? Just wondering. Thanks!
  • I don't have an answer for the bustle, other than to tell you that David's Bridal has a bustle guide on their website.

As for the neckline, I would leave it as is.  I wanted a sweetheart as well, but the dress I found is straight across.  I asked if I could turn it into a sweetheart and they said I would lose the detailing (which is similar to yours).

This is a 13 point french bustle.

ETA: your seamstress will know the best for your dress.

  • I love your dress the way that it is! Given that your dress has a lot of rouching, I would recommend a 7 point bustle. I think you are going to need a lot of points to hold it up esp if it is pretty heavy fabric.
  • Thanks ladies! I just wanted some ideas to bring in and so I knew what my seamstress was talking about when she referred to different types of bustles. I also think I am going to leave my neckline as is; with my luck, it would mess something up or I wouldn't like it as much.

    Thanks again! :)
  • Your train looks a little like mine.  I also have an assymetrical sweep and I was wondering how they were going to be able to maneuver something like that.  I sill have a few months before the dress comes in and they know what to do!
