Mother's and Bridesmaid dresses the same color?

Is it ok if the mothers and the bridesmaids wear dresses that are the same color? Is this a big no no no?

I don't think it's a big no-no but they may feel more comfortable if they are in a different color than the bm's. My mom and fmil wanted to make sure they weren't wearing the same color as the bm's but it wouldn't be a huge issue if they did.

My mother's dress was a very similar shade, a LITTLE bit deeper- her dress was a completely differnt style than the BM's 5 different dresses, though- she didn't look like a bridesmaid/like she was trying to blend in. I think it was fine.

I agree, I don't think it's too big of a deal for most people. Personally, I'm glad my mom wants to at least be a different shade, if not a completely diff color, than the BM's! I also am not as close to my mom as a lot of Bride's, so that may play a part?

I think it is fine if they wear the same color but I think the Mother of the Bride should definately stand out in some way because the older generation thinks of her as the "hostess" of the wedding.

There isn't any reason why they can't wear the same color. It's really up to the bride, and the MOB...whatever they are comfortable with. My BMs and Mom are wearing green...but Mom is wearing a different dress and a different shade. But we only chose to do it that way because Mom liked the color and the dress.

My mom and MIL are dressing in the same color family, but not the EXACT color as my bridesmaids.  The key point is what you and the moms feel comfortable with.  If they are comfortable in the same color, and you are cool with it, then go for it!
