How long should my dress be??

So i have my dress and got my shoes.. Its a mermaid dress with a chapel train. With the shoes on, its about 1/2 off the floor. Is this ok? I don't know if i am suppose to have the dress touch the ground. I would think it would be hard to party with the dress on the floor. I have blue shoes so they peak out..

Any thoughts??

    1/2" is no big deal. Any longer, and it would be very easy to trip over.

    I don't have any pics right now.. I will post as soon as i get some. What do you think?
    Will it be weird. The dress is already altered. I just don't know if i should try to do something to lengthen it.. Am i being crazy? its exactly 1/2" off the floor....

    1/2" would be a great length, IMO. just enough to keep it from dragging. If you are that concerned about it, perhaps consider flats for the reception (more comfy and would make the dress a bit longer).

    When I ordered my dress, it exactly touched the floor.  I was planning on getting it in a longer length (I'm almost 5'9"), but the saleslady told me that any longer would make me trip.  I'm wearing shoes that have 2.5 inch heels, and the skirt rises about 1/2 an inch from the floor.  It looks fine.  I think that the blue shoes peeping out would look cute.  Don't worry about it.

    my alterations lady wanted it to just the tops of my feet, especially after I told her I was a huge klutz even on my best of days. I imagine that's about 1/2 inch, so you should be good.

    What's the point in having adorable shoes if you can't show them off? : ) I think it's a good length - but I still would enjoy seeing pics!!
