shoes causing pain

Hi ladies, I bought a pair of flats for my wedding and I decided to test them out today by wearing them at work.  My left heel is starting to get a blister already so I had to put a bandage on...i'm worried that these shoes won't be comfortable enough for me to wear all day because I already got a blister.  I'm wearing insoles in them becuase they are too flat to go without.    if the blisters continue should i try to find a new pair of shoes?

  • Ditto to what duds said. I use the band-aid version. It's called band-aid friction block stick. I don't leave home without it.

  • If you're like me most shoes will kill your feet the first couple of times you wear them until they're fully broken it.

My suggestion is to wear them around the house with socks on (the extra bulk helps them loosen up a bit). I've also purchased the Dr. Scholls rub relief for the day of.

  • Just my thought, unless you LOVE them, I'd get a different pair. It is your special day w/ probably lots of standing, walking and dancing, no time for sore feet to distract you! I wouldn't think a good fitting shoe would give you blisters. Good luck!
  • Put on the shoes with some damp socks and blow dry them, get up and walk around repeat. Be careful with using bulky socks, I overstretched some flats and they are too big to wear without thick tights now.

  • Keep wearing them....you probably just need to break them in.  Any time I get new shoes my feet usually hurt the first day or so wearing them.
  • When you're breaking them in, put on some socks (nothing TOO heavy), but put some moisturizing lotion on the inside of the shoes. That's what shoe repair places do to stretch them. They put lotion on the inside of the shoes and then put them on stretchers. You wearing them with socks will have the same effect.

    Good luck!

  • Along the same lines as the OP's question: I know leather shoes will stretch/break in, but what about dyeable satin shoes?

They will break in too, but not quite as 'customized' as a leather shoe. Leather will take the shape of your foot, other shoes will stretch a bit, but not to the same extent.

As long as you start breaking them in well in advance, you should be fine.
