I need your help i am thinking of letting my bridesmaids wear the style of the dress which they feel conformable. the only thing i ask them i want is the same color and floor length what you think.

yes , you are right . They can choose the style they like but the same color and the length .

That's what I did, plus I added that I had veto power. Didn't needed, I love what everyone picked!

You may also want to give them guidelines on material, but otherwise that sounds great. I've seen that done so many great ways!

It's your wedding so you can set the guidelines however you want them. I like the "veto power" idea.

The problem that springs to mind is the possibility that a group of friends could all go together and get the same dress, while someone not in that group might show up at the wedding as the only one in a different dress -- making it look like she got the wrong one.

I agree with this.  Fabrics tend to photograph differently so it would be best that your girls all buy a dress in the same fabric for picture consistency.

i think it's fine, and a nice thing to do.  that's what we're doing....i took a handful of bridesmaids over the weekend and we did some narrowing down.....the girls can pick any navy, chiffon, floor length Bill Levkoff.  so things will still look really cohesive, but they can each pick whatever style they think looks best on them.

Thats the same designer/color/material/length I went with too! I also requested they not pick the same dress. It was not neccesary, they all picked different ones anyways!

I also did this!  I made sure they all got them from the same store and the criteria was that they needed to be the same length and color.  I had asked about the material and this color looked the same in the satin and chiffon so all of the dresses are different but tailored to each girl.  It's a great idea because if you have a wide variety of body types, they'll feel a lot more comfortable.

I did this, too. My dresses are all in shades of beige/neutral/champagne, and they're all a similar material, but not exact (no sheen to any of them whatsoever). Mostly chiffons.

Anyway, I had 8 dresses to navigate, and I wanted them to all be different enough - I didn't want 6 strapless and 2 randomly strapped, if you catch my drift. 

I chose like 16 or 20 dresses that I liked that "fit" the idea I was going for. E-mailed the list with picture links to everyone and asked them to pick their top 3 and include at least one non-strapless in their three. Every single person picked a different number 1, and it worked out perfectly!

That's a great way to ensure that your bridesmaids are happy. I am doing the same, and have basically told everyone that they can wear whatever dress they want, as long as it's close to the same color. Since David's Bridal is so convenient for everyone, they just have to go in the store and pick out any dress in the color Apple.

That's what I did, they could pick any short dress in Horizon at DB.
