<div>I recommend going to a Joanns or other craft/sewing store and just looking through the patterns.  Most of these stores will have "books" of patterns.  These are thick books put out by a brand with pictures of all the patterns made into the actual garment.  You find one garment you like and then go to the pattern bins and grab that particular pattern.  One tip: there usually aren't "wedding dress" sections.  There will be, however, a "special occasion" section.  That's where you should look.  That's what I did when I was considering having my mom sew my dress.  I ultimately decided to buy one since I live 1500 miles away from my mom and fittings would be difficult.</div><div>
</div><div>Also, if you can't find a pattern exactly like you like, know that most patterns can be adapted if you have a decent seamstress.  Especially little stuff like sleeves and even the neckline.  My mom sewed my BM dresses and she adjusted the neckline slightly higher on my two little sister's BM dresses (they are 13 and 17 and my mom didn't want them wearing that low of a neckline).</div>

lovesclimbing gave you some good advice.

I agree with going to look at pattern books at the fabric stores. However, most pattern makers (Vogue, Butterick, McCalls's, Simplicity) have online webstores as well. Often you can find discontinued patterns online that will no longer be in the books. You'd need the pattern number to find it online however.

For example, I made my dress for the ceremony, and the pattern was one that also had a bolero/shrug. My daughter was my MOH and wore a different size, but I went to the pattern manufacturer's website, entered the pattern number, and the option to buy larger sizes came up and I ordered it that way.

I also merged about 3 different patterns into the dress I made, taking parts of one that I liked and using it, etc.

Below is one of the patterns I used, Vogue pattern # 2720, now out of print. However, they still sell it online, but the only sizes available are 12-14-16. It is a fit and flare, and has sleeves off the shoulder. It's also a fairly detailed pattern which would work best with someone who has had a lot of sewing experience. I've sewn for over 40 years.

Here's another fit and flare that doesn't have sleeves

The above came up when I googled "Fit and flare wedding dress patterns".

I found everything out of the ordinary for my wedding by googling it.

If you have never sewn before, just know that McCall's, Simplicity and Butterick will have the least involved patterns for less experienced sewers. Voge is often the most involved.

    Good luck.
  • thank you! i have found the fabric and the pattern. my mom is making my dream dress for me :)
