Custom made suits

I want to get my FI a custon made suit for the wedding. Has anyone done this, what sort of prices am I looking at and how far in advance did you have to order it?

Re: Custom made suits

  • My fiance got a custom made to measure suit made at Nordstroms.  They carry a couple of different designers and we went with the Hicky Freeman Suit, in a modern slim fit.  It is really, really beautiful.

The great thing is you an cutsomize everything down to the buttons and stiching color and of course pick out your fabric and lining.

It took about 8-10 weeks for the suit to come in and needs some minor alterations, such as hemming.  But it is one good look suite and something he will be able to wear for years to come.

It was a bit pricey, about $2,000 once you add up the suite and custom shirt too.  But worth the price if you don't want to go the tux route and he will have other occasions to wear a really awesome suit.

I would recommend Nordstroms, they are awesome, great customer service and set you up with a sale's associate to be your "assistant" throughout the whole process. :)

    Hope this helps!
  • The term is 'bespoke,' and bespoke suits start at a few thousand dollars from reputable tailors. If you ask about a 'made-to-measure' suit, it will be a bit less pricey.

  • indochino.com constructs suits to order. You can customize some features, and the suit is built to the dimensions you specify (they tell you how to measure your FI).
