Vow Renewal Dress??

I didn't have a typical wedding. We got married by a Justice of the Peace, and I have been wanting to do a vow renewal ceremony for our 10 year anniversary. Would this dress be too much??

Re: Vow Renewal Dress??

  • I agree about the train. I think the dress is beautiful, maybe just get the train removed.

  • I love the dress, very pretty. I see what PP mean about the train, an i do think renewals tend to be more low-key but I think the silhouette works well, simple without too much drama going on.
  • I'm going to vote a bit differently here. Since you never got the full traditional experience, I think it's perfectly acceptable to have a train if you want one. That dress really is lower key than your average wedding gown already (imo of course).

Whatever you decide, try on the dress before you buy it. Fully lace dresses are notorious for looking amazing on one person, then completely being uncomplimentary on the next. They're totally worth it if you can pull them off ( I can't, boo).

  • I love that dress. It was in my pile of pics I took to every bridal salon. I never knew who made it, though. I think it's very pretty and low-key and with or without the train I say go for it.

  • i'd say go for what u want for ya vow renewal since u did justice of the peace and not a wedding deal.

I think it depends on what you are shooting for with your vow renewal. Are you concerned it looks too wedding-like and you don't want your renewal to go that direction? Or are you doing a wedding-type ceremony? It really depends on what you want your ceremony to look like as to whether the dress will fit in or not.

FWIW, I am planning my 15th anniversary party/vow renewal. Feel free to private message me, if you like. I enjoy talking about renewals, no matter what kind you are planning. I keep bugging TK to give us our own forum!

Alg, Knot Lili has told me she's researching the idea of adding a Vow Renewal forum to the TK community. She asked me to get the word out that she'd like PMed opinions on this. Would you mind sending her a PM in support of our own Vow Renewal forum? If you go to http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-boards_budget-weddings_intro-to-knot-lili , you can PM her from her post. Please?
