Dress help!

So, I bought my dress over a year ago, and just went for my final fitting. Wedding is August 4.  I love my dress, think it's gorgeous.  So to the problem...It fits too tight still.  I had always wanted a mermaid/trumpet gown, and that's what I got, but at this last fitting, even with her letting the dress out about an inch around my thighs, it's still pretty tight.  I can walk in it, but I'm scared when it's time for the reception I won't be able to really dance at all, which I love to do.  So my question...What should I do?? Does anyone know any workout routines that I can start emplimenting now to get some weight off and slim my thighs in 6 weeks??

    This is going to sound like an obvious question, but have you been wearing shapewear that covers your thighs? If not, try some out in addition to any workouts you might have. I wore a prom dress that's that shape, and even though I was pretty slender at the time, a pair knee length shapewear pant thingies made a huge difference in movement. My legs were seriously all muscles and they did just compress enough. 

    Check over on the get in shape board for better advice about workouts, they have some really good ones. I'd be inclined toward yoga or ballet myself because I know how my body reacts to those things.

  • you'd be surprised how much you can lose in 6 weeks. Cut out sugar and carbs. eat vegetables and protein and lots of water. atleast 1200 calories a day of the good stuff. :) Congrats and good luck. Your dress is gorgeous.
  • Nobody can lose her weight easily . If you are already slim ,it must  harder .

  • I swear by walking. I walked a half marathon in April and lost inches off my thighs and hips. I try to walk between a 1516 minute mile. Even 3 miles a day before work at that pace will make a drastic improvement. Lunges and squats are also great toners :. Good luck! Your dress is lovely!!
  • Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred ($10 at Walmart) works great for me, I also do a work out that my cousin found on YouTube, The Worlds Fastest Workout Video, it's only 5 mins and wow! I gained like 50 lbs when I was pregnant with my son 2 years ago lost about 15 pounds then gained 30 pounds when I was pregnant with my daughter last year, I've been doing these workouts and dancing (I'm a Polynesian dancer) for about 4-5 months my pants size was a 16-17 and now I'm a 10. I really recommend those 2 workouts and try to drink only water and no salt on your food (a little sea salt is ok). Good luck!

  • 80% of losing weight is your diet.  So, I would focus on cuting out sugars and fats.  You might want to try Myfitnesspal.com (or the phone app) to count your calories.  Your dress is BEAUTIFUL!!!  Good Luck!
