Men's wedding bands -- HELP!!!

*This is long, I apologize, bear with me though!

Hi ladies,

I really need some suggestions. We're getting married on 4/23/2011..as in just one month away. We initially went to Kay Jeweler's on February 16th to purchase FI's wedding band..ample time. When we first went in, it was on a whim, and there was a very tired and stressed out, but still friendly, Kay employee that helped us pick out the ring. Both I and my FI preferred the more masculine look of the tungsten and tiitanium rings available today, but she was quick to tell us that in case of emergency, often times they would just CUT THE FINGER OFF if you were wearing a tungsten ring. Also, she said tungsten tends to be brittle and break if hit hard enough and they usually cannot be resized or engraved. So that turned us off. We ended up getting a simple white gold band, which was fine with FI. It had to be re-sized, 3 weeks later we went back and had a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experience with the saleslady. She was rude from the get-go and when FI tried on the ring to find out it was still too large she was beyond annoyed. "WELL, WHAT do you want to do?!" she said looking at ME. I was like..ummm, it's not my finger! I'm really not one to raise my voice or treat salespeople with any disrespect, but I could not help myself this day. I was disgusted. Absolutely disgusted, and had we not already purchased the ring I would've just said forget it. Well, so we say it needs to be sized down to 8 1/4. As FI is filling out the form she practically rips it away from him and says "I'll take care of it, you can just come back in a few weeks". "Do you have a specific date?" I ask. This annoys her even more. It's another 3 weeks.

So, we go back in tonight. Happy Sally Saleslady was there but we were able to avoid her and get someone else. Anyway, so the ring is still too big and I notice that on the sheet that Sally Saleslady filled out she had written 8 3/4" when it was supposed to be 8 1/4". Once again, I was about to go off the deep end. This salesperson told him to take it home and wear it for a couple days and see what happens, telling him his fingers are probably just cold and that they will swell. Yea..ok. FI got home tonight and washed his hands and the ring just totally slid off. Now we get to go back for our 4th trip to Kay's tomorrow night.

Here is where I need suggestions. What kind of ring did your FI pick out? Gold? Tungsten? TItanium? What kind of experience have you had with the tungsten and titanium rings? Do they hold up well? FI is in the Army..so lots of physical training and working with his hands in his line of work. Are there any jewlers you would recommend? We purchased my bands from Na Hoku who have been amazing, but their men's wedding bands are not FI's style. He likes simple. Does your FI/DH's ring fit pretty snug or is there a small gap? We noticed when he had his hand up on the steering wheel on the way home there was a gap between the ring and the finger.

I am sorry this is so long but I couldn't really cut anything out without getting my point across. I am just so beyond disgusted with Kay's and I will never, ever shop there again. We are going to look at Ben's Bridge and one other jeweler tomorrow night before possibly returning the ring to Kay's and telling them to forget it. Thank you for any advice you can share about your ring experience!
