Indecisive bride!!

Hey yall! I am getting married on October 13 and I still have not picked out bridesmaid dresses! I am supposed to be going to Davids Bridal in the morning but only 2 out of 6 are able to make it. =(
Its just so confusing and so many to choose from and its even harder when I cant get my whole bridal party together to try on dresses... they all are various sizes and shapes.
I want my MOH to have a different dress, preferably a one shoulder side strap. I want my sister (she has a HUGE) bird tattoo right smack dab in the middle of her chest) and I want to get a dress that wraps around her neck and covers her chest. I want all the girls to wear same color, same fabric, same length, but different tops. Since my MOH has one strap and my sister will have a y neck... I was thinking to get one to wear a strapless dress, one to wear two straps... but then there are two more girls and I dont know which kind of strap/top I want..
Should I just get them all to wear the same dress except for my sister and my MOH?

UGH I just dont know what to do! Part of me wants my MOH to wear a different color dress but I just dont know how that will look with BMs all wearing different dresses.

MOH and sister are in the long dresses

I like this one, I think.. but the MOH (which is beside the not-dressed bride, lol) but with one strap over shoulder.

Any suggestions!??

Re: Indecisive bride!!

  • With the help of my BMs, we picked out a designer collection where they could do as you described - pick of their own top/waist, but all the dresses were the same length, color, and material.

I personally like the look when all the girls wear slightly different dresses.  I felt that my BMs were grown women and didn't need to all look like clones of one another with the same exact dress, same exact shoes, same exact jewelry, etc.

But at the same time it needs to be cohesive.  I don't know that I'd like the MOH to be in completely different color.  I guess I just don't understand the need to make the MOH stand out - obviously she's the one standing next to you & holding your bouquet during the ceremony!

To make it easier on you, I'd let the girls just pick out their own dresses with parameters you give them.  I'd tell them the length, color, and fabric needed and let them go from there.  It'll be less stress on you and they'll appreciate having some say in what they have to wear.  And despite how similar all my BM dresses were, there really was a dress that looked best on everyone since we have so many different body types.  I wouldn't worry about X person wearing X type of dress, and let your friend show off her tattoo if she wants to.  I think you are overthinking everything.....I promise no one else is going to care or notice about these little things but you!

  • If you stress out over things like this, you won't make it to your wedding day.

Assign a length and a color.... even a fabric if you want to go that far, and then forget about it.
  • I think if you're going to have your MOH and sister wear different dresses you definitely need to let all the girls wear different dresses--or else it might look funky. Like some of the previous posts said, maybe pick a length, color and fabric and let them choose their own (with your approval of course)

Either wy you haven't chosen all the same fabric so there will be color variation. Also the dress you've chosen for BMS will be discontinued June 27th.
  • You could also consider doing a convertible dress, like these:

There are a TON of different options for the tops.

Personally, I would say to keep them all the same color and length, and to have each one of them wear whichever top they like. But the nice thing about these is that you could always change your mind on the specifics later- i.e. you could have them order the dresses and then decide whether you are going to have them all wear the same style, or just your maid of honor/sister do different ones, or have each one of them different.

</div><div>and thanks for the advice! I think I am going to let the girls pick their own dress. I chose the same fabric, color, and length. So hopefully that will work out!!</div>
  • Wow sorry posted right before I went to bed. The dress with the little skirt the one the majority is wearing. Those are discontinued or soon to be. As for fabric those dresses are satin the y neck is charmousse.
