What style veil would look best with this gown?

I can't decide on a veil, but I know I want one.

http://www.amykuschel.com/gowns/noe is the gown.

Should I do a lace edged mantilla that comes to the top of the gown? Or a ribbon edge veil that goes below the bow? One layer or two?

I have a couple of yards of the lace used on the dress to play with, and a great seamstress.

Thanks in advance!

  • I think using the leftover lace to edge the veil would be beautiful!

  • For my personal taste, I only like veils that are fingertip or cathedral length.

Even though a laced edge veil would look amazing, I am more inclinded to say go with a riboon edged veil because I think it would accent the bottom of your dress nicely and then allow the lace on the dress to be the "star of the show" so to speak.

  • I would do a fingertip lace trimmed veil. I know you said mantilla would be an option, but you could also just have to bottom trimmied with lace. That is what I did. :) I had a seamstress make mine like that and there are pics in my bio under the Attire tab.
  • I love the big bow on the back of the dress, so I would probably stick with a birdcage-type veil to avoid covering it up.

I think the best options would be either a lace-trimmed fingertip or a ribon edged fingertip--so you can see the bow through the tulle. The layer question is up to you. Do you want a layer to pull over your face (the blusher)? If not, a one layer might be best.

Also, in terms of deciding between a ribbon edged or lace edged you should take a look at the type of wedding you're looking at creating. If you're doing a vintage-y thing a lace edged will fit the bill. However, if you're doing a more modern look a ribbon edged might be the way to go.

Either way you will look beautiful! Love your dress :)

  • Personally I like the idea of a chapel or cathedral length trimmed with the extra lace.

Just PM'd you back.  Sorry it took me so long!

  • Thanks everyone! Great ideas here.
  • The veil with ribbon edge must be better as your dress has a ribbon hem .BTW, your dress is already enough lace appliques ,no any more :)

I think this veil will match your dress nicely.

  • The lace edged mantilla with two layers. It will not cover the bow.
  • i'd go with fingertip.  it should extend past the bow just fine, so you'll still see it through the mesh.

i'd stay away from lace trim (http://www.weddingx.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Floor-Length-Bridal-Veil-2.jpg), to me it just overpowers the dress and takes away from it. I'd probably go with something lightly embroidered (http://forprincessbride.com/store/media/Veil-201-1F-D.jpg)

buuuuut thats just my opinion =)

Wow I love this dress! I agree with Elle completely. I think that this dress easily calls for a birdcage veil or that type of thing. I wouldn't cover the bow!
