Take our poll for The Knot

Re: Take our poll for The Knot

  • My mom's dress was stored at my grandmother's house since they had no room.  My aunt's hamster got out one day and ate a few holes in her dress! LOL.  Its funny now but my mom was definitely pissed when it happened!
  • I am making my own dress, so I will be using my mom's crinoline and probably some of the satin/lace to incorporate it into my own... I will try to use my grandmother's dress as well, but some of my aunts object to my "ruining" it by cutting it up.  If I can get everyone on board, I will use the fabric from my grandmother's dress to make some sort of art/photoalbum/something for each of the girls in my family.

  • I'm not using her dress, although she told me I could cut it up and use it somehow. But my older sister may decide to do that, so I figured if she wants to I'll let her. But I'm hoping to use her veil!

  • I'd love to use parts of my mother's wedding dress, but she wants it fully in-tact and preserved. It was a beautiful gown on her (mind you this was the 80's), however my sisters and I want our own dresses for our weddings. It's a shame that it will continue to sit in a box, but that is what she wants!

  • I'm using part of her veil as my bouquet wrap.

  • I used some of her lace as the wrap around my bouquet.

  • I 100% intended to and had the lace from her veil all ready to go and wrap around my bouquet, and then my parents told us they were divorcing.  My mom wasn't too happy about looking at her dress anymore, nevermind me using something from a wedding that didn't work out.
  • My mother wore an off white pencil skirt/blazer set that she personally didn't care for so I seen no point in trying to incorporate it. I'm not even sure if she still has it.

I used her clutch and the hanky her grandmother made for her (my greatgrandmother) from her wedding as my something borrowed.  Both matched my dress very well.

  • I wish I could have worn my mom's dress to the reception. It was a white tea length dress that my grandfather made. I'm assuming she gave it to the Goodwill years ago.
  • My mom's been married twice and never wore the whole white dress thing.  She's always said it's something she regretted not having.
