Tips for first dress fitting

My first dress fitting is Thursday (!!!!) The only thing the shop told me is to bring my shoes. Is there anything else to bring? They are sewing cups in, so I won't need a bra. I am just really nervous/excited to finally see it. (It's Blue by Enzoani - Casablanca in ivory... clicky)

  • If you are wearing any shapewear (eg Spanx), bring them.  Also bring something to tie your hair up if it is long and remember to go to the bathroom before you put the dress on in case you are standing there for a while during the pinning.

  • I would also bring any jewelry that you are thinking of wearing.  It helped me decide that I needed something a little more than what I already was borrowing.  So off jewelry shopping I went...  Unfortunately I don't get to see my new necklace with my dress until my last fitting - the day I pick it up, which right now is next Tuesday - only a couple of days before my wedding day.  I am hoping I can go this week to make sure it fits well just in case anymore alterations are needed (lost weight due to stress in my waist/rib cage area & now we can't make the corset tight enough w/o it buckling.  I don't want to be pulling up my dress all night long... If you have a corsetted back like I do, make sure it can be made super duper tight.  It needs to be very tight right where your rib cage ends in order to stay up all night.  I didn't notice that there was about a 1/2" on both sides since it felt tight.  Make sure you touch that area and feel for excess material.  Also make sure you sit down, bend down, etc in your dress.
