Found a dress I love, don't know what size to order!

I found a dress on Nordstrom.com that I LOVE. This is it: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3097620/0~2376776~2374327~6005464~6005465~6028193?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6028193&P=2

They don't have my size online, but a bridal specialist found one in what I think would be my size in Georgia.

Would it be best to get measured by a seamstress or at another department store before ordering? I don't even know if I'm doing it right... The closest Nordstrom to me is 3 hours away, so I can't go there and ask their opinion on what size they think I am.

  • When I measured myself, my bust equaled a size two, my waist equaled a size ten and my hips measured a size zero, so I'm a little confused.

Since you are confused, it might be best to get measured by a seamstress for proper measurements.

  • Also....often times your measurements do result in different sizes...which is why so many people choose to get the dress altered. As a general rule, you will want to buy the size that fits the largest part then get it altered. But as PP suggested, getting a seamstress to take the measurements may help out, and you may have different results than self-measuring. Figure out what he/she determines, then pick the size that fits the largest part of your body, and alter from there.
  • You will buy the dress two sizes bigger than your street size, most wedding dresses are European sized....

  • I would definitely get professional fitted by a seamstress. Wedding dresses normally run small. My dress was a size 8 and I am normally a size 5 in pants if that gives you any perspective. I know when I ordered my dress, everything was done in inches.

You may have measured yourself in the wrong place.  An inch higher or lower can make 2 sizes difference.  Get measured  by a seamstress, and then buy the biggest size of the 3 measurements.  It's much easier to take a dress in than out.
