Dresses found online-- some from overseas??

Has anyone ever purchased their dress online, like a knock off version?  I have seen many places in china and a few here in the US.  I have a very small budget and found a few beautiful dresses for my beach wedding online.

those are both from overseas I believe... this dress is from here, i dont believe it is a replica... i just want your options on it

OR-- I was even thinking about getting a dress like this... its made for proms or whatever.. and getting is altered to not be floor length? (it looks too short anyway!)  The price just is tempting to TRY something like that... what do u ladies think of altering this dress (in white)

You have to realize with those dresses that you are taking a risk--you have no idea if what you're getting looks like the picture you're seeing. Are you willing to gamble that amount of money and buy a new dress if the one that arrives stinks? Then go for it. Is your budget tight enough that you couldn't get a second dress if you needed? Then get an inexpensive dress from David's, a consignment shop, or a bride reselling her gown. At least that way you know what you're buying.
