Colors - Eggplant & Red

What do you think about the colors eggplant and red? The bridesmaids will wear eggplant dresses and will carry red bouquets. My MOH will wear the same color dress but with a red sash. I will carry a bouquet of red and deep purple. All the flowers for the reception will also be red and deep purple. Will these colors look okay together?

I don't really like the sound of those two together, at least not without some other colors to blunt the red a bit. I was in a wedding a while back with eggplant dresses and a mixture of fall-color roses and lilies: oranges, yellows, reds, and rusts.

If not that, I'd pick white or a shade of pink to go with eggplant dresses.

But go with your gut. I see surprising color combinations that work out all the time. If you like it, make it happen!

They're both jewel tones. I think they'll look lovely together.

I think if it was a more vibrant red it would work better.  Also PP suggestion of the pinks with eggplant would look great together.  I wore an eggplant dress with a blush pink cardigan to a wedding recently and got a lot of good comments about the color combo.

i think it sounds absolutely stunning. a vibrant red and a deep purple are the way to go. i would also give the MOH maybe a white or ivory bouquet so it isnt TOO much on one person. or put her in a white or ivory sash

I was just in a wedding that did this, and it was gorgeous.

MOH wore red/wine dress with eggplant sash.
BMs wore eggplant dresses with red/wine sashes
All carried white callas with dark purple centers

The bride carried a bouquet of dark purple callas

The centerpieces were red roses, red carnation, and dark purple callas.  No other jewel tones / accents were used, and it was a gorgeous, rich, warm November wedding

I am curious to know where you found eggplant bridesmaids dresses?  I am looking for this color as well, or something along those lines.  I will be accenting with white and green.  Any ideas for where to get dresses?  I'd like something pretty reasonably priced.  Thanks!

I found the dresses at a bridal store near where I live, the designer is Bill Levkoff. His website is www.billlevkoff.com. They run around $160ish. White and green accents will be very pretty!
