BM short or long? HELP!

I can't decide if I should go with long BM dresses bc the wedding is in december. or if short dresses are appropriate...ideas? I also know the tops of the dresses will most likely be different like some with straps, some sweetheart, v-neck, but all same designer and fabric.

Re: BM short or long? HELP!

  • I would think long for a winter wedding, just because your girls might be frozen!  I'd also look into cardigan/wrap options for the same reason.

I'm having my girls in tea-length, because I feel like the current "short" cut is too short to be flattering on a lot of body types - so if you really want the less formal look of short that would be an option.  The girls are buying long dresses and having them hemmed.
  • Ive had the same issue. Shorter dresses are usually cheaper and more likely to be worn again so I keep leaning towards short and letting them pick out their own cute pumps, but im torn! Im getting married in February so weather is an issue but its going to be inside..

ive been told either way is fine!

  • Either is fine. I have seen it both ways. We had a June wedding in Ohio and my girls wore knee length dresses. But I have also seen summer weddings where the BM's wore long dresses.

Ask your girls what they would be most comfortable in and go from there.
  • yea, the shorter dress are usually cheaper, and cute, and more likely to be worn again, the wedding will be north houston, so I'm not too worried about it being terribly cold and it will be inside. but yea most of the girls said either is fine. and yes some of the current "short" for some of the dresses are super short!
  • Either will work. If you want to go with shorter there is nothing wrong with that :]]
  • Its really personal preference. Yours and your girls', if you are letting them have a say in their dresses. I am having a July wedding, and we are doing long dresses. Cranking up the A/C :)

  • It depends on what you want, where you wedding is (state), is it outside or inside, etc?

My wedding is in December and my girls want short dresses. I'm in Florida and the ceremony is outside. FL winters can be chilly. Since they want short dresses, I'm getting them pashminas. If they're cold, at least they'll look pretty!

Again, it boils down to whatever you want!

  • im getting married on April 30th (3 weeks 5 days *squee!*) and my girls are wearing long. just my personal preference. i wanted them to 'stand out'

i am also in a wedding october 15 and we are wearing long dresses...it is an outdoor wedding though. but we arent wearing any boleros or anything...and our dress is a one-shoulder style
  • To be honest, I was completely open to either before we started shopping for the girls dresses, but once I'd seen them try both styles on- I just thought the long dresses looked very elegant and classy. And as they say on 27 dresses "They can shorten them and wear them again...." Haha :)
There's only 1 way 2 say those 3 words and that's what I'll do... I love you Image and video hosting by TinyPic
