? about tiaras and headbands

I know I want a jeweled headband to wear with my dress. The lady at David's told me that tiaras with fake crystals show up as black dots in photographs. Is this true or was she just trying to sell her expensive products?

No she was just trying to make extra commission, the associates at DB always try to upsell on accessories. They definitely don't show up as black dots in photos!

There is a FABULOUS site to buy tiaras & headbands, for 1/5 the cost the "wedding related" stores sell them: www.rhinestonejewelry.com.

The problem is that for some of the items, you have to buy multiples. I had to get 6 rhinestone & pearl headbands, one of the local knotties bought one at a get together, and I made a bracelet from 2 others by wiring it with silver wire. I paid $55 for SIX gorgeous headbands.

I have tried on a veil before that had what I believe were rhinestones, and they turned into black dots in photos... maybe it depends on the particular stone? Maybe go back to David's Bridal and try to take photos of it and see what comes out on the photos?

If they showed up as black dots you'd see them in everyones pictures! Wow. what a saleslady!

I think that the "black dot" look might be true of veils only - the rhinestones attach to the veil and I think the black dots come from the back of the rhinestone (part that is glued onto the veil) since they can't all be facing forward in the pic  My photog told me the same thing too in my initial meeting with her.

So my opinion is not true for jewelry but true for veils.

It may depend on if it is a rhinestone or a crystal.  There is a difference between the two
