Help me with this Maggie dress coloring (Milana)

Ok here is the dress: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=S5221CS

The options for color are: All White, All Diamond White, Diamond White/Pewter accent, Light Gold/Champagne lace with Gold accent

Which color is pictured in that dress?

The one I tried on in the store had an overall brown feel to it and it was not like the one pictured. However, the Diamond White/Pewter is not what is in that picture, either. So I'm not sure what I tried on OR what is in that picture...

I really love this combo which the description says is light gold/champagne but it looks nothing like the one I tried on which I swore looked brown. http://www.maggiesottero.com/viewBride.aspx?keywordText=milana&keywordType=any&pageSize=15&Id=7735

Re: Help me with this Maggie dress coloring (Milana)

  • My guess is all diamond white. It's definitely all one color, and doesn't look stark/true white. The one you tried on has probably been tried on by many many girls, and may be a little "dingy" causing the more brown look. It COULD also be that we tend to remember things a little differently than they actually were. :) I'm assuming you didn't/weren't allowed to take a picture?

No, what a bummer! No pics :( I will have to go back and try it again to see if it feels brown to me, but it was definitely like "I love this, but it's brown"... and I don't think dingy, I mean like it was a beautiful shade of brown/bronze but didn't feel like a wedding dress for me because it wasn't any shade of white. I will just have to try it again. I want the lace to stand out and not blend in, but I don't want a brown dress. It just sucks because it's the ONLY MILANA IN TOWN and it is (atleast in my head) BROWN. So I would be blindly ordering because there is no clear cut set of pictures that clearly labels what the color combos are. I'm guessing when I see pictures.

  • Can't you call or go back in and ask what color it is?
  • here are a few pictures from googling the dress...

    doesn't look brown to me!

  • My Maggie was diamond white with light gold accents if that helps you any.

The dress in the picture is either all diamond white or the diamond white with pewter. The detailing looks pewter to me, I'm not sure why you said it isn't.

She told me what the dress was at the store, and I will call back and get an exact, but none of the color combos on the website sounded like it. I've googled my heart out, and I haven't seen that picture. It's gorgeous-- not brown! :)

And I thought it wasn't pewter in the picture just because I saw someone who had posted her Milana that was DW with pewter accent and it looked nothing like it, even with considering lighting and such, but perhaps she was mistaken?  Or definitely perhaps I am. :)

Either way-- I love the dress and can't wait to see how it feels on me again. It's nerve racking choosing a color combo that you can't physically see, though, but it's gotta be hard to make that dress unpretty. It's really lovely.

  • I took a leap of faith and blind-ordered my color too. It will all work out- you have to go with your gut! :)
  • The second Maggie bride is definitely wearing it in all white or all diamond white, because you can hardly see the detailing. It is so visible on the model that I am almost positive that the detailing is pewter.

My guess is you tried on a gold sample that had been handled alot of times.  I ordered my dress in diamond white and was a little shocked when I got it because it looked so much whiter to me than the sample (which seemed almost ivory).  The only color combo that would even come close to "brown" is the gold.  Also from what I saw, the lighting in bridal stores is terrible.

I also think the model is wearing the all diamond white.  Definitely don't order the all white if you want the detail to stand out.

ETA:  Ok, maybe the model is diamond white/pewter.  There are pics here but they aren't great:

  • Can you call Maggie Sottero corporate to find out?  Keep in mind that white balance in photos can be greatly altered, so that the color in the photo is really unlike any of the options.
