Wedding band engraving

(didnt really know which board to post on)

Do any of you have/planning on an engraving on your rings? What do you have?

Is it weird to get my fiances name in mine? I was thinking this with the date we marry.

Are there traditional things people normally get in them?

Re: Wedding band engraving

  • We didn't get ours engraved because H's couldn't be engraved (Tungsten ring) and my band was so thin it couldn't be engraved either.

If yours can be, I think FI's name and your wedding date would be nice. I know you can't engrave a ton of words on there, but if you have a 3 or 4 word saying you often say to each other and it would fit on the ring, that might be nice too--something personal to the both of you.

  • we aren't doing ours. mine is pretty thin and he said he didn't want it done.
  • I think your FI's name and wedding date are perfect.

    In my ring
    "love, his Name MM/DD/YYYY"

    In his ring
"God's love and my heart   MM/DD/YYYY"
  • My FIL talked FI out of getting my E ring engraved because he said you pay for the gold that is lost in the engraving and blah blah blah debbie downer jerk.

H was going to get "I love you more."  We say that back and forth.

  • That's great!!

The traditional thing that I've seen in a lot of vintage rings (like my grandparents' from the 40's) is their initials and wedding date.  In my grandparents' case- flanked by little hearts.  So for Jane Ann Doe and Tom Michael Smith it would be JAD & TMS 07/16/12.

I also came across a really lovely one that just said 'to my wife' and the date (which I wanna say was like 1930.)

My fiance has also suggested either splitting up a quote between us: 'Stay and grow old with me/ the best is yet to be.' or putting 'the best is yet to be.'

My personal favorites: 'Do Not Remove' and 'If Found Please Call 555-333-2222'

  • I think that's a sweet idea.
My engagement ring says "I'm yours", my wedding band is too thin,
his wedding band says "forever yours faithfully"
  • I got my husband's wedding ring engraved. Our first dance was to Blake Shelton's- God Gave Me You so I engraved that into his ring. If you do want to engrave his ring, you can do a small quote or a small lyric from the dance you will dance to. Anything you do will be special. I didn't get mine done because my band is to thin.
